The European Council has discussed and launched
a Resolution (2001/C 204/3 - 13th July
2001) to stimulate the development of distance learning, with the aim of making
operative the e-learning plan of the European Commission (March 2000) and the previous report from the Commission to the Council
and the European Parliament, Designing
tomorrows education promoting
innovation with new technologies (January 2000)
The e-learning plan has been introduced in EUN-Conference Learning in the New Millennium, in Brussels , March 2000
The Resolution emphasizes that the use
of the technologies can improve the quality of teaching
and invites therefore the European countries to upgrade infrastructures, to cure the
training of teachers, to stimulate the development of digital didactic resources, to
support and to develop virtual places, to use
new ways of cooperation between students and teachers
